Job Overview

We are looking for a mission-aligned and highly motivated Programme Manager to play a pivotal role in driving our programming forward at 2X Global, with a particular focus on the 2X Challenge and our Investment Practitioners Community of Practice. In this role, you will lead the strategy, content, engagement, delivery and output as well as broader stakeholder engagement. You will supervise a remote-working team and liaise directly with partners, members, investors, financial intermediaries and other key senior and influential stakeholders across a variety of regions globally. 

The 2X Challenge has raised over US$11B in gender lens investments since 2018. As the collaborative effort seeks to vastly expand its impact by mobilising the full spectrum of investors and capital providers towards a new target that is even more ambitious, the cornerstone of our strategy will be a range of interconnected thematic and geographic challenges, each of which aims to catalyse billions.  Sub-challenges shall focus on thematic areas such as gender and climate, gender and healthcare, women’s entrepreneurship, care economy and/or gender and digital inclusion. This more nuanced methodology will be developed in a collaborative stakeholder engagement process.

  • Leads and facilitates specific thematic global programmes, primarily the 2X Challenge and the Investment Practitioner Community of Practice, ensuring high-quality strategy, content, engagement, delivery and outputs.
  • Engages collaboratively with partners, 2X Global members and key stakeholders to shape and develop the future 2X Challenge, including a new collective target, curating  thematic sub-challenges and a nuanced and solid methodology based on the evolution of the 2X Challenge spanning the spectrum of investors and capital providers, and the focus on thematic priorities  such as gender & climate, care economy, digital inclusion, etc.
  • Steers content development and advances strategic priorities of the communities of practice, responding to member needs and dynamic field-level context.
  • Leads day-to-day a remote-working programme team of Associates, Coordinators and Fellows/Interns and provides directions to external partners. 
  • Promotes the engagement of members, develops products and offerings such as training, peer learning and knowledge exchange sessions for investors and investees/clients across asset classes, geographies and sectors, demonstrating a keen understanding of thematic areas and underpinning investment context.
  • Effectively guides project management to ensure projects are on time and on track towards outcomes, including setting direction and making decisions, as well as creating outputs and content, and ensuring a high-quality audience experience.
  • Liaises directly with partners, members and key stakeholders and guides the execution of external and partner content events.
  • Supports the senior leadership team with strategic initiatives and programme needs as requested.
  • Supervises monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) across all workstreams under responsibility.
  • While the immediate focus of this role lies on the 2X Challenge, Programme Managers of 2X Global work on a portfolio of programmes and projects, and the focus may evolve over time.

Skills and Experiences

  • We anticipate this role to be suitable for a candidate with 8+ years of experience.
  • Specialised understanding of gender and finance and the field of gender lens investing; practical experience in the private capital (private equity, debt, and/or VC fund management space (on the GP and/or LP side) highly desirable.
  • Strong familiarity with the 2X Criteria and their application across types of investors, sectors, thematic areas and investment instruments.
  • Experience delivering quality content to external audiences, including senior and influential stakeholders.
  • Proven project management, time management, and organisation skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • This role will be very varied; with no two days looking the same, you will be flexible and thrive on being someone who others can count on.

  • Receptive to feedback, with a growth mindset.

  • A salary range of USD $75,000 – $95,000, depending on the candidate’s experience and credentials. 2X Global employees are paid through a national payroll provider, in their local currency, with a social security plan and industry-standard benefits package,
