You will join a graduate programme in one of our five sectors – Process Automation, Industrial Automation, Climate Control, Life Science & Fluid Control, Transport – dedicated to creating safer, cleaner, more efficient technology. The two-year programme includes a variety of roles and placements. You may have the chance to work in another country or play a part in Growth Hub, our innovation engine, contributing to live projects and seeing the product life cycle from end to end. Whatever you choose, we’ll support you as you build your career as an engineering or business innovator.
We have engineering and business opportunities available for a 2024 start across the globe:
You will work on designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining various engineering projects and IMI products. Key responsibilities may include participating in engineering design processes, collaborating with international teams, analysing data, problem-solving, creating technical documentation, conducting experiments, and adhering to safety and quality standards. You will integrate academic learning with practical experience, allowing yourself to contribute to real-world projects and advancements in technology and infrastructure. Effective communication, teamwork, adaptability, and continuous learning are vital skills for success on the IMI graduate engineering programme.
You will take on real projects with significant responsibility from day one, working in areas of market research, identifying potential clients or customers, negotiating deals, managing contracts, analysing sales data, developing sales strategies, and fostering client relationships. You will learn to optimise business operations, enhance profitability by understanding market trends, meeting customer needs, and implementing effective sales and marketing strategies.
You will learn how to manage and support financial projects and reporting within IMI whilst on the Finance Graduate Programme. Key responsibilities such as financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, investment analysis, risk assessment, and strategic financial planning will be covered as part of the programme. We want you to be able to undertake sound financial decision-making, regulatory compliance, and effective resource allocation to support IMI’s financial health and growth.
There will be a clear focus on building and maintaining strong customer relationships while meeting sales targets and revenue goals set by IMI whilst on this programme. You will collaborate closely with other departments, such as marketing and customer support, to ensure a cohesive sales approach and excellent customer experience. The role requires effective communication skills, a proactive and persistent approach to sales, and the ability to adapt to various sales strategies.
On the Operations Graduate Programme, you will work towards streamlining operations, enhancing productivity, reducing operational costs, and contributing to IMI’s overall effectiveness and competitiveness. You will also be involved in problem-solving, data analysis, and strategic planning to drive operational excellence, working closely with teams in supply chain management, logistics, and project management.
On this programme, you will be involved in overseeing and coordinating projects within IMI to ensure successful execution and achievement of project objectives. This includes responsibilities such as project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, stakeholder communication, and monitoring project progress. You will need to apply project management methodologies, tools, and best practices to manage project outcomes and meet organisational goals. Strong organisational, leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
You will be involved in overseeing the development, launch, and lifecycle of a product. This includes responsibilities such as market research, product conceptualisation, defining features and specifications, collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, marketing, design), creating product roadmaps, and guiding the product through its lifecycle. Graduates in this role will work to ensure the product meets customer needs, aligns with business objectives, and remains competitive in the market. Effective communication, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and adaptability are crucial skills for success in this role.
What you need:
You will need a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in the area you’re interested in joining, within the business. We’d also like to see some key qualities in our candidates, including:

Our programme offers the opportunity to work across multiple locations, dependent upon business need, which means you may need to relocate. This could be within the country you’re applying for, sometimes it may be to another country.
