Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) is a pan-African organisation and member of the Global Alliance
for Tax Justice (GATJ). We advocate for pro-poor taxation systems and the strengthening of tax
regimes to promote domestic resource mobilisation. TJNA aims to challenge harmful tax policies
and practices that favour the wealthy and those that aggravate and perpetuate inequality. Our
policy influencing enables citizens and institutions to seek fair tax systems.
About the role
The Partnership and Member Engagement Coordinator plays an essential role in providing
oversight and leadership over partnerships, network, and member engagement activities. This
position will be responsible for supporting the growth of TJNA’s membership (internal) and
partnerships (external) and strengthening member engagement mechanisms to support the
implementation of TJNA’s strategy, which includes increasing our reach across the continent and
deepening our capacity to influence equitable tax systems.
The coordinator works closely with the Partnership and Institutional Learning (PIL) Manager and
other team members across all departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Partnerships
- Cultivate new and high-impact partnerships and strengthen existing partnerships in close
collaboration with the Policy and Communication Departments. - Develop, maintain, and track a database for all Institutional partnership agreements and
memorandum of understanding with external organisations and follow up on any
compliance issues related to the terms and conditions agreed upon. - Support implementation of the Organisation Capacity Assessments to ensure the needs
of new and existing partners and members are documented, and gaps identified are
addressed in collaboration with other departments.
Member Engagement
- Oversee the implementation of the network strategy and related frameworks in close
collaboration with other departments. - Identify, develop, and implement solutions to member needs and challenges through
tailored support and guidance as appropriate. - Develop and maintain mechanisms to facilitate and support member engagement across
the network, taking care of diversity and inclusiveness. - Maintain a working knowledge of the members and foster collaboration and networking
through different thematic areas in consultation with relevant departments. - Lead on membership drive and identification of strategic organisations for admission to
the network. - Process membership applications and carry out due diligence required to support
effective membership recruitment. - Proactively support the organisation of the Annual General Meetings and related
governance meetings and ensure member engagement/partnership issues are
communicated and documented. - Maintain an up-to-date database of all network members and ensure changes or
membership issues are communicated to relevant departments in a timely manner. - Oversee regular and timely communication and interactions with network members in
close collaboration with the communications and outreach department, including
promotion of member activities. - Proactively participate in fundraising, planning and implementation of the institutional
operational work plan and joint programming initiatives and ensure the needs of the
members are taken care of. - Prepare reports and briefing documents on member engagement activities and ensure
updates are incorporated in organisational reports as required.

Professional Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant field in (Economics, Political Science, Sociology, International
Relations, Development Studies) or related field.
Required Competencies & Experience
- Minimum of five years of work experience in a civil society or NGO setting.
- Extensive and proven experience working with NGO networks and coalitions in Africa.
- Proven experience in leading the development and implementation of partnership and
network strategies and initiatives. - High-level interpersonal communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with the
ability to undertake multiple tasks simultaneously and work with a diverse range of actors
at different levels. - Demonstrated ability to assess priorities, and work under pressure to meet deadlines with
attention to detail and quality. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
Other experience and Knowledge - Good oral and writing skills in English. The ability to communicate and work in French will
be an added advantage - Willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
