The Nordic Scholarship Programme 2024 is currently open for applications. The deadline for submissions is November 5, 2023.
Purpose of the Programme
The primary objective of the scholarship programme is to provide scholars like you with the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Nordic Africa Institute’s library collections. You’ll gain access to a wide range of resources, including books, periodicals, newspapers, and government publications, all focused on contemporary Africa. Additionally, the scholarship aims to foster connections between your research and the work being conducted at the Institute through NAI research hosts. These scholarships are awarded annually, making this an excellent chance for you to further your studies.

Who Can Apply?
If you’re a master’s student, Ph.D. candidate, or postdoctoral researcher conducting Africa-oriented studies in Social Sciences and Humanities, you’re eligible to apply for this scholarship. It’s open to individuals affiliated with universities and research centers in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland, regardless of your citizenship.
Financial Support and Benefits
Recipients of the Nordic Scholarship will enjoy several benefits, including:
- Coverage of travel expenses based on the least expensive fare from your residential address (in Sweden, Finland, and Iceland) to Uppsala and back.
- Access to a desk and computer in a shared office at the Institute.
- Free accommodation in the heart of Uppsala.
- A subsistence allowance of SEK 300 per day.
- Free photocopying services, with a maximum limit of 1,000 copies.
Please note that the scholarship does not include health care insurance or other insurances.
