Requirements & Qualifications

  • A relevant B degree/BTech
    (Engineering/Science/Built) qualification
  • 2 to 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Driver’s Licence
  • High degree of computer Literacy

Performance Areas

  • Compilation and updating of an Integrated Master Plan (IMP) from the department’s functional branch Master Plans.
  • Facilitate effective planning of Water and Sanitation and to encourage the optimum use of infrastructure.
  • Align the IMP to the Water Services Development Plan (WSDP) and the City’s planning and Development also in the regional and national context.
  • Developing and coordinating the Water and Sanitation Department’s
    Business Plans including the Water Services Development Plan (WSDP) and other Strategic plans.
  • Ensuring alignment with those of other stakeholders.
  • Assess developments against infrastructure capacity as well as comment environmental impact assessments, land disposal and acquisition.
  • Check impact on a modelled water and sewer network.
  • Make recommendations on the compilation of the Department’s Capital Budget, compile an Integrated medium- to long term Capital Requirement, as input to the Department’s Budgetary planning, the City’s MTREF and participate in various economic analyses including project business cases or the annual tariff modelling.
  • Research, develop and implement new technology and best practice in Water and Sanitation incorporating new engineering-, system-, or process technologies.
  • Monitoring and guiding the successful implementation of the Department’s Strategic Objectives and progress
