Apply for the Free Online International Anti-Corruption Winter School – Africa Edition 2023 (Fully-funded by IACA and UNODC)

In an effort to combat corruption and empower the youth, the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) are proud to present the Online International Anti-Corruption Winter School – Africa Edition 2023. This free online course is set to take place from December 4 to December 8, 2023.

Why You Should Join

 Corruption affects all corners of the globe. In this course, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from distinguished anti-corruption experts and gain a deeper understanding of what corruption is and why it matters.

This program is a collaborative effort between IACA and UNODC, conducted exclusively in English. It’s not just a learning opportunity; it’s a chance to be part of a significant movement against corruption.

What’s on the Agenda:

  • International Anti-Corruption Frameworks: Explore the global strategies and frameworks aimed at combating corruption.
  • Private Sector Prevention and Detection: Understand how corruption manifests in the private sector and how to prevent and detect it.
  • Governance and Corruption Nexus: Delve into the complex relationship between governance and corruption.

Who Can Apply:

This opportunity is open to students and young people between the ages of 18 and 29. If you were born between December 8, 1994, and December 8, 2005, and you hail from one of the following African countries, you’re eligible to apply:

Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Togo, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania and Zambia.

Application Details

Applications must be submitted by 31 October 2023, and exclusively online through the application form accessible below.

The application must be accompanied by an email to [email protected] with the following documents attached – clearly indicating your full name and with the subject line “Winter School for Students and Young People – African Edition”:

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. Passport Copy
  3. Motivation letter
  4. Proof of the appropriate command of English

Admission Criteria: Admission will be granted based on several criteria, including suitability for the program, English language proficiency, and gender balance. IACA may request additional information or conduct interviews with applicants.

Please Note: If English is not the applicant’s mother tongue, the appropriate command of English may be proven by: (a) a certificate of completion of at least one year of fulltime studies where the language of instruction was English; (b) an academic degree where the language of instruction was English; (c) documentation of sufficient professional experience in an English-speaking environment; or (d) English language course certificate. Additionally, interviews may be requested by IACA.

To submit the application, applicants shall consent to the General Terms and Conditions for Professional Training and the Code of Conduct for IACA’s Programmes and Activities, as well as authorize IACA/UNODC to store, process, and use their personal data for communication and administrative purposes, until written revocation in accordance with applicable laws. UNODC and IACA will process the applicant’s personal data in accordance with IACA’s Privacy Policy.
