Background | |
The UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) is dedicated to improving the lives of the impoverished in the world’s 46 least developed countries (LDCs) by making both public and private finance work for them. To achieve this goal, UNCDF utilizes “last mile” finance models that unlock resources from both public and private sectors, particularly at the domestic level, to alleviate poverty and promote local economic development. UNCDF’s financing models operate through three primary channels: Inclusive Digital Economies: This approach connects individuals, households, and small businesses to financial ecosystems that encourage active participation in the local economy. By providing tools to lift people out of poverty and manage their financial lives, this channel empowers individuals and fosters economic growth. Local Development Finance: Through fiscal decentralization, innovative municipal finance, and structured project finance, UNCDF strengthens localities’ capacities. This support drives local economic expansion and sustainable development, empowering communities to thrive. Investment Finance: UNCDF employs catalytic financial structuring, de-risking strategies, and capital deployment to drive impactful initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This channel also promotes domestic resource mobilization. Currently, UNCDF is offering internship opportunities within its Inclusive Digital Economy (IDE) team. The selected interns will work under the guidance and supervision of unit supervisors, supporting the ongoing workplan and goals of the respective units. The IDE team is comprised of three units seeking interns: Migration and Remittance Team Policy Accelerator Team Knowledge Management and Communication Team The internship manager is fully committed to providing the interns with comprehensive training, guidance, and support required to fulfil their duties and responsibilities effectively during the internship period. This includes regular scheduled meetings (weekly) to assess output progress, offering systems training when necessary, and assisting with any required university reports to meet academic degree requirements. | |
